VOCAL ENSEMBLES

 

Voices of Grace

Voices of Grace (VoG)  rehearses Wednesdays 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary balcony.

Voices of Grace (VoG) typically sings three Sundays-a-month. The repertoire ranges from choral masterworks to selections by modern composers. They perform a Christmas Concert each December, a spring concert, and prepare several major choral works  throughout the year.



High School Choir   

Rehearses Sundays 5:00 – 6:25 p.m. in the Sanctuary Balcony.

This fun-loving, energetic and talented group of singers performs regularly for worship services.  They perform a broad spectrum of music ranging from Gregorian chant to arrangements of choral masterworks by Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, and others, often with a chamber orchestra accompaniment. They perform in the Christmas Concert and the Spring Concert.


Middle School Choir

Rehearses Sundays 4:00 – 4:55 in the Sanctuary Balcony.

This enthusiastic and committed group performs Gregorian chants and learns a variety of anthems and choral masterworks both in unison and multiple-part for worship services, and they often cantor the liturgy. They perform in the Christmas and Spring Concert.


Chancel  Choir

(4-year olds – 5th Grade Students) rehearses Wednesdays 6:15 – 6:45 p.m. in the Music Room. 

This choir explores unison and two-part singing while learning about liturgy and worship practice. The singers participate in worship services and frequently serve as Cantor by leading the liturgy of the worship services.

 

INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLES

 

Belleuphoria!

Rehearses on Sundays from 3:00 – 3:55 p.m.

This talented and creative bell choir often has “theme” rehearsals and performs monthly. No rehearsal is ever dull with this group!


 

RECORDER CONSORT

Rehearsals on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

This ensemble plays music of the Renaissance, Baroque and Classical Period, and occasionally contemporary works. We have soprano, alto, tenor and bass recorders in the group.

 

 

Kosmos

(Kosmos – Greek for “world”) provides the varied rhythmic and tonal sounds to supplement the eclectic music of our Global Liturgy.  Rehearsals are during the hour preceding the monthly Global Liturgy Worship Service.


GLCO 

The Grace Lutheran Chamber Orchestra is made up of string and woodwind players who supplement the liturgy setting from With One Voice, Now the Feast, the Festival Setting I of LBW Communion Liturgy I, and accompany choral works both in worship and in concert. Rehearsals are announced prior to each event.


Trompeteria 

Our brass ensemble combines to provide accompaniment for hymns and liturgies on our high festivals and our special occasion worship services. They rehearse just prior to each event.


En Streng Psalmodikon Quartet

Norwegian for “one string,  the En Streng salmodikon Quartet: The Psalmodikon is a single-stringed musical instrument that was used in Norway and Sweden beginning in the 1820’s to help accompany congregational singing and to teach music education, and they were utilized for about 100 years in Lutheran churches in Scandinavia and the United States. Our quartet is comprised of soprano, alto, tenor and bass psalmodikons.


Vocal and Instrumental Solos 
Solos are always a welcome addition to our services. Musicians who would like to share their gifts as cantors, liturgy instrumentalists, or soloists as part of the service music are encouraged to contact the Minister of Music. Repertoire is carefully fit into the flow of the liturgy.
